Case Study presented at Toronto Drupal Meetup

Yesterday I gave my first presentation at a Toronto Drupal User Group (TDUG) meetup. it was a focused case study on a site I built. The focus on the presentation was on working with SMS and building Mobile interfaces. I think the talk went rather well, and I hope to come up with more discussion material to present.

Using the Google Document Viewer with filefield to embed PDFs in your Drupal content

A recent client wanted embedded PDFs in their content so their users didn't need to download a PDF reader to just view the files. Rather than using a Flash based page turning software as they had originally wanted I discovered the google document viewer (used in Gmail and google docs) can be used to render hosted PDFs either in an iFrame or full screen on a google branded page.

Restricting content types per domain with Domain Access

UPDATE: With the help of Jbomb on drupal.org we have taken my method and turned it into a proper module which can be downloaded from drupal.org The module is called Domain Content Types

The road to DrupalCon 2010

I just filled out the contest application to attend DrupalCon 2010 put on by www.drupalmodules.com. While I do hope I win, I'll probably be going regardless. Drupalcon DC was a fantastic experience, however I really do have to change my outlook when it comes to attending conferences like this. I used to think that I would "learn" a great deal by going to the sessions and "working" around others in the industry. This is of course not entirely the case. You do learn, but not about processes, how to use a module, etc. It's more like the University atmosphere for drupal. You go to learn about technology, where it's going, how it works, and talk to those that are doing it.
