Human Rights Watch

Dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. We stand with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice.

Human Rights Watched (HRW) needed a site dedicated to human rights as related to the 2008 Summer Olympic games being held in China. Their requirements specified multiple user roles with varying permissions. flash applet integration, porting of existing HTML content, multiple specialized content types, custom theming and user training.

The site had an extremely tight deadline requiring us to go from specifications to final product in under 2 months. As the contracted developer I was responsible for Architecting, server setup, configuration and theming. Design specifications were provided by means of photoshop documents and were created by a UK based design firm. I was also responsible for staff training and support by providing both documentation and phone walkthroughs of the system.

Human Rights Watch having previously no experience with the Drupal CMS were very pleased with the website and have since converted their entire parent website to use Drupal as their primary content management system.

Website Features:
Custom report content type allowing multi-page categorized documents
Printer Friendly and Email page forwarding for specific content
Flash integration with XML support
Specialized content types for easy content creation
User level security and access for Admin, editors and special users
Custom theme developed from photoshop designs
